A cold seat on a winter morning shouldn't take half your commute to warm up. This cushion heats uniformly across the surface in about 10 seconds, so the wait isn't the tradeoff for staying warm. The control unit has a power button and a separate heat-level button cycling through three settings. Gear I brings the heating plate to about 113F (45°C), Gear II to about 131F (55°C), and Gear III to about 149F (65°C), though the actual body-contact temperature at the highest setting runs cooler, around 113 to 118.4F (45 to 48°C), since you're not touching the heating plate directly. However you set it, the cushion automatically powers off after 50 minutes of continuous heating. If you want to keep going after that, you turn it back on manually. It doesn't run indefinitely by default, which matters for something that sits under a passenger for an entire drive.

• The 50-minute auto shut-off is a normal safety function. If heating stops after continuous use, this is expected behavior, not a malfunction. Press the power button to resume.
